Welcome to 2020!

Welcome to 2020!

2020!  What a perfect sounding number to start off the New Year. There is something about the numbers – 2020, they are quick and easy to say and slide off the tongue easily. The star gazers and the astrology buffs will certainly find meaning in the numbers.  In these delicate times of great outer change we need greater stability within.  According to the predictions of Nostradamus a lot will be taking place, perhaps even a third world war!  So, all may not be as hunky dory as we think, we will have to wait and see.

‘20/20 Vision’ is a term used for the eyes to express clarity and sharpness, we call this having perfect vision.  If you have 20/20 vision you can see clearly from a distance of 20 feet.  I wish for everyone to have not just perfect physical sight, but also for the third eye to have the power of perfect inner vision, to be able to see what is unfolding and see how each of us needs to respond.  Not just in our personal lives, but as we deal with the changes in the wider world too.  Big changes are upon us all.

Well, let me share some things from my personal journey as we move into 2020.

A Fruitful Year
Looking back at 2019, it was a very fruitful year.  Although there was a lot of travel, still in some ways it was a quiet and pleasant year.  Nothing majorly wowing happened, but there were lots of smaller wow moments, and the chance to meet lots of interesting people and to make many sweet connections.

Create a Strong State of Mind
Currently there is a strong attraction to creating a stage – a powerful state of mind that can stay unshakeable and immovable.  This I do by exercising the mind with the practice of meditation to create powerful and positive thoughts.  Co-operating with that magnetic law of attraction and seeing many positive results.  I was reading Bruce Lipton’s book in which he mentions that the first 20 minutes of the morning affects our sub-conscious mind.  So now more than ever I am particularly paying attention to my first few minutes in how I start my day.

What Matters Most?
I believe that we need to prepare ourselves for what is to come in 2020 not through resistance, but by creating a flexible state of mind which will help us to be resilient as those changes are happening!  Today we see that pretty much everything in our world is changing; from relationships; to our health; to the weather and the disruption of Nature; to the economic markets and the political world.  Nothing really has that reliable predictability of the past.  So we have to prepare ourselves to be flexible to be able to cope with those changes that are happening all around us.

Nothing matters more when some form of chaos or turbulence takes place except having the presence of mind and a powerful state of awareness.  We need to stay awake and alert, we cannot allow the intellect to fall asleep.  We cannot control what comes to us, but we can certainly control how we respond to it.  Mind needs to conquer matter, and I cannot afford to be distracted in these moments.  My inner peace is my inner treasure and I should not allow anyone or anything to take that away from me.

Discipline and Fitness
I am also being pro-active with my morning walks and exercises.  Despite the dark and the cold, I take myself out at 5.00 am.  I am walking between 4-6 kilo meters before beginning the daily morning meditation sessions.  For over a year I have been implementing the 16/8 diet almost daily, unless there is intense travel.  Fasting for 16 hours and eating for 8.  This really suits me.  I have not lost weight although it may look like it, but I am certainly feeling lighter and more energetic! I feel that I have finally found a system that suits my body.  I am not recommending it for everyone, but as with all things in life just give it a try and see how you get on.  But before you start, please consult your doctor first if you have specific ailments.

Mind over Matter
We may not want to believe it, but it is true… every iota of sorrow gets manifested in the body somewhere.  Hence the pain in the hips is not just there due to misuse of the hip, but some misuse of our thinking too.  There is a direct correlation between the mind and any other part of the body for that matter.  Hips especially store deep rooted emotional issues.  So, we need to improve the quality of our thoughts if we want to improve our health and life.

Declutter All Areas of Life
Yes, I have made many shifts on the mental, emotional and physical levels.  Trying to declutter on all levels to simplify my life.  If something takes a lot of my energy, I need to ask myself if it is really worth it.  Therefore, take a closer look at what is not working and perhaps it needs a bit of tweaking.  Small adjustments here and there can make a huge difference.

For example the trainer in the gym may ask you to simply straighten your knees/legs, this will correct your torso.  Or elongate your neck to improve your back posture.  And… these small changes can make a huge difference to our overall health and feeling of well-being.  So too, on the soul level, we need to just look deeply and see where is my energy leakage?  Once we fix the leaks, we can retain energy for the things we want to do.

“Man was born free and everywhere he is in chains.”

Whatever I desire will influence me.  Whatever I am dependent on will become a burden to me.  We all too often have love/hate relationships with the object of our desires/dependencies.  Because on the one hand it gives us a certain kind of happiness, but when it begins to control us… then we begin to hate it, and we want to run to our freedom again.  When I am dependent on anything physical, then that blocks me from experiencing the true spiritual ascension.  The two are just not compatible and therefore always seek the path of freedom.

We very often get caught up with people and possessions and then spend the rest of our life trying to re-wind ourselves out of the mess.  Yet the karmic accounts have become so strong by then, that the soul needs intense effort and a simple goodbye will not suffice.  Hence, the simplicity I refer to is more about freeing my mind from the belief that I need that desire or dependency.  Real happiness lies in my inner freedom.

Happiness is Our Natural State
It is important to understand how much of our own happiness is linked to that of others.  If you are taking more sorrow than happiness from a certain kind of relationship/situation, then ask yourself what are you doing or not doing correctly?  Sorrow is not our natural state.  Happiness is our natural state.  And when we are in sorrow every part of our body speaks to us, telling us that something is not right.  We might have moved away from physical sorrows, but our soul tells another story.

Love and Compassion
Despite all the dramatic changes in our lives, I feel that we still have to maintain love and compassion for all souls of the world, including ourselves.  All the living creatures and Mother Nature needs our love and respect, after all SHE sustains us on this wonderful planet Earth.  Actually, it is only with love, compassion and co-operation that we are going to survive.

Year in Photos Below…

A vision board is a tool to help you clarify, focus and manifest specific goals in life. Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images.  These you might like to cut out of magazines and newspapers, some can be your own drawings, printed or written words that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life.  A vision board is a way to envision your own dreams and ideas to yourself, and to allow the law of attraction to work in your life.

Recently I did a vision board workshop and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and got right into the task.  To get you started, here are some of the questions we used, along with a few of the exercises to help you reflect upon and create your own vision board for 2020.

Sit in silence and then ask yourself these questions.  Or if you would like to do it in a group, go ahead and perhaps one person can ask the questions whilst everyone else quietly ponders on them.  As you come up with the answers, intuitively, it will help you get some insight into what you want more or less of in your life.

Some poetry by Robert Frost

My object in living is to unite
my avocation (hobby or minor occupation)
and vocation
(a strong feeling of suitability for a particular career or occupation)
As my two eyes make one sight
Only where love and need are one…
And work is play for mortal stakes is the deed
ever really done for heaven and the future’s sake…

What has been your greatest learning/lesson(s) in 2019?

Is there one positive event that stands out for you? And why is that?

In 2019 did you make any major shifts?  Did you shift mentally, emotionally, physically?

(Answer the questions as you understand them. Do not think too much)

When do you feel most alive?

What we see shapes the way we think.  What do you see?

What does this problem/situation ask you to let go of?

What rhythm are you moving to in your life?

Consider this: if for the rest of your life all financial considerations were taken care of, then what would be your work now?

What mask(s) are you wearing?

What is the most important thing about you?

Your heart has ears: what can you hear it say?

Do you search for the cause of the puncture, or change the tyre?

As Lao Tsu, the famous Chinese writer and philosopher said:  “A journey of 1,000 miles begins with one step.”  A journey of 141,650,000 miles begins with our imagination. Where does that imagination begin?

How can you interrupt the speed?

Make a list of 10 things that make you smile.

When you are in pain — physical or emotional…

The kindest thing you can do for yourself is…

If your body could talk, it would say…

What do you love about life?

Whom have you inspired?

Make a list of everything that inspires you — from books; websites; quotes; people; paintings; from the stores to the stars.

Make a list of everything you would like to say “NO” to today.

Write the words you need to hear every day.

What is one of your biggest dreams? What’s getting in the way of your fulfilling that dream?

What legacy would you like to leave behind?

Choose the verbs that touch you… I have only chosen positive verbs, this is because I prefer to focus on positive action plans.

Now I would like you to write a small poem…

Just two or three paragraphs… anything that comes to you spontaneously…

Here’s mine…

I am Aruna, bold and strong…
I carry the world in the palm of my hands,
I stand on top of the world…
And the universal forces heeds to my beck and call

And another…

Mother Earth you are amazing
You provide for me every single day
You are there wherever I turn
I love you and cherish you…
You are my Mom!

Draw a picture that expresses yourself that is not an element… for example; I am a bridge… or I am an eagle… or I am a doormat… describe the first image that comes to your mind without editing its content…

Write a letter to the person you need to forgive.  But do not post it to them.  That person may well be you!

Collage / Vision Board
Now take some old newspapers and magazines and whatever medium you have such as old birthday cards, post cards, beads, stones, sand and sequins, glittered paper, crepe paper etc., then make your board.  Make it your own personal piece of art that you would love to look at every day!

It is a pleasure and a joy to share with everyone some of the benefits, learning and experiences I have taken from whatever life has to offer.  Wishing each and every one of you all the very best of the best in 2020, as each one of us moves closer to our own 20/20 vision for ourselves.

Much Divine Love,

PS/ Whilst writing the date 2020, we should write it in its full format, e.g. 01/01/2020 and not as 10/01/20, because anyone can change it to 01/01/2000 or 2019 or any other figure to suit their convenience. So be cautious and don’t accept any document without the full date.  This problem will persist only during the year 2020.

My first visit to the Ganges. The area at the back is where the Hindus cremate the dead! Every Hindu’s wish is to be cremated by the Ganges River and then for the ashes to be thrown into the Ganges. They believe, in this way the soul attains eternal liberation!

Ganges by the day. I was invited to be part of the Non-Resident India Day Celebrations. Apart from all the grand hospitality by the Indian Government, we were taken to the Ganges in Prayagraj for a dip! I simply dipped my feet!

Our visit to Dharamshala to check out a retreat place which we later hired, and conducted our annual retreat. Dharamshala  is home to The Dalai Lama – a simple monastery set high on the mountain.

Dharamshala – one sister monk we caught hold of!

Dholadhar Range – en route to Dharamshala

I was ‘storm watching’ from the terrace of the retreat centre! The clouds were ‘kickbox dancing!’

Benaras, India – the tree under which Buddha taught his first few students

I know it doesn’t look it, but in Paris for some meetings!

Pretty obvious!

The kitten that we found in our garage! I took her in as it was over 50 degrees heat outside. We all gave her our love and attention for the few days she was with us, but sadly it was not enough – she didn’t survive. She was a royal divine little thing!

Family reunion somewhere in England.  (Not showing faces to respect privacy!)

Castiglione della Pescaia (town in Italy) where a national retreat was held for the public.

This was on the way to the airport after the retreat! The Falling Tower of Pisa! Italy.

Revised and updated – the new conflict resolution book. Please do download it from here.

Hall of Liberation, Munich

Beautiful sunrises in Kuwait every morning during the morning walks!

Lots of tea parties at Jaipur Palace on Mount Abu!

It was so peaceful reading you, so much peaceful. As I was reading you, I was forgetting all the negative stuff about my life and was just so focused on each word of yours. Reading it was so delightful, I don’t remember last time I felt this light. I am happy but this made me peaceful.
