18th January – Brahma Baba’s Ascension Day

Today we remember Brahma Baba, not with sorrow, but with deep gratitude. His life reminds us that spirituality is not about leaving life behind, but about changing consciousness while living fully within it. He showed us that inner transformation does not require withdrawal from the world; it requires a shift in awareness.

Brahma Baba lived in the world and carried immense responsibility, yet he remained light, detached, and loving — like a lotus. Surrounded by the mud, the pressures of life, he was never burdened by them. His secret was simple and profound: he belonged to One. Because of that belonging, there was no weight of ownership, no fear of loss, and no need to control outcomes.

He did not leave behind only a philosophy or a movement. What Brahma Baba truly left was a standard of stage – mental state of mind. Through his life, he showed us how to live in the world without being absorbed by it, how to love without dependence, how to serve without ego, and how to lead without control. In essence, he showed us how to be a lotus — rooted in the world, yet untouched by it.

Brahma Baba’s ascension on 18th January 1969 was not an ending; it was a completion. By that time, ego had finished its work and attachment had dissolved. What remained was purity, love, stability, and subtle service. His departure was not a loss, but a quiet victory — the natural rising of a soul that had already detached.  He did not die or go, he rose.

Those who lived with Brahma Baba often describe him with one word: light. He was light in his thoughts, light in his relationships, light in responsibility, and light even when the body became weak. This lightness was not a matter of personality or temperament. It was the result of constant remembrance (of the One above) and deep detachment. Through his life, he showed us that spiritual power is not intensity — it is lightness.

As it has been said, “Brahma Baba did not teach us to renounce life; he taught us to renounce consciousness of ownership.” And on this Ascension Day, we are reminded once again that the highest achievement is not success or activity, but completion. His ascension calls each of us to move forward with greater lightness, deeper remembrance, and the quiet dignity of a lotus — being loving and detached.
