Transfer Your Bags and Baggage
I have been doing quite a bit of travelling lately and dealing with different currencies. This gave me a little insight and a whole new meaning to the term ‘transferring your bags and baggage’!
As soon as we are about to leave one country and get on the plane, that country’s currency thereafter has very little value. We have to exchange that money or wait to return to the same country to use it again. You may argue that money is money no matter what the currency is, but my point is we need to change that currency in order to be able to use it, only then does it have value. Sometimes we save our left over change when we move from one country to another, or we exchange that money, some kindly souls will donate that loose change to charity.
For example one cannot use English pounds in Kuwait, they would need to convert them to the Kuwaiti dinar. Most travellers are initiated into this ritual immediately upon arrival in order to obtain their visas. So we have to follow the laws of the land to be able to get anywhere.
“This is a very subtle accounting system that holds the
spiritual statements for every credit and debit,
every good and bad action in our lives.”
The same is true of our spiritual finances. The good we do here in this lifetime does not go with us as the actual karma performed and finished. Maybe you can picture it like an excel sheet of good deeds… well not exactly. Each deed may get transformed into blessings or the opposite! It is an energy account created within and around the soul, sometimes we call this field the Akashic records. This is a very subtle accounting system that holds the spiritual statements for every credit and debit, every good and bad action in our lives.
Therefore, the higher the vibrational frequency then the greater the deed and the more people that benefit. Through the law of karma, as with all actions, we know that each deed boomerangs back to us… in its own time. That re-action may not always be immediate, there can indeed be a bit of a time lag between the cause and the effect of an action, but in time the re-action, the re-bound comes.
Hence when the soul leaves the body it either feels a struggle to depart from this world or a lightness. This is all attributed to the karma the soul has created, that is basically due to what is in our bags and baggage. Do we have anything good, or perhaps not so good to declare? Just like when we arrive at the airport, whether we were travelling first class or economy, depending on the contents of our bags we know how fast or slow we will get through customs.
If we have taken away something from someone by force and given sorrow to one soul, even if it be the taking of their whole life, then this soul will certainly not be sending us good wishes. The soul carries the memory of their past lives at a sub-conscious level. The journey of the soul is not limited to one body, or one physical experience that we call life. So the soul will be affected and can feel the heaviness or lightness when it finishes a temporary part in a costume here on Earth.
“The idea is to have a stock of positive
“income” in our soul account from which
we can draw on and spend later.”
As we do the good deeds they will hopefully outweigh the bad. The idea is to have a stock of positive “income” in our soul account from which we can draw on and spend later. If we do some good and then do something bad after that, then the positive negates the negative and the balance returns to zero. It’s like earning £10.00 and then going out and spending the whole £10.00. So there is no money left; we actually have not accumulated any real credits.
The aspect of transference relates just as much to the soul as it does to our bags and baggage in transit, because wherever we think we may go after we leave this body, we still need to consider investing in our future, whatever that may be. The soul has to have some “income” or “investment”, some “credit” from which to spend; some form of a spiritual bank balance so to speak.
“I am doing the good for my sake.
For the sake of I, the soul. I am not doing anyone
else a favour when I do the good deed.”
This is why it’s so important to keep doing the good and not worry about what others say. I am doing the good for my sake. For the sake of I, the soul. I am not doing anyone else a favour when I do the good deed. Goodness is part of my nature, and therefore I should not even wait for appreciation or gratitude. I should be giving all this graciousness to myself, so then the only person I can be disappointed with is myself. But of course that would not be possible if I was being positive.
Almost everyone believes there is a heaven or a “somewhere” after this life. Well, if there is then what is the currency of heaven? Is it yen, the ruble or the dollar? Certainly not. There is only one currency, and that is the currency of love. This currency of love can manifest as compassion, kindness, co-operation and abundance.
We can see this happening in a few places, it works like a barter system. Someone brings this item, another brings that and everyone gives and everyone is allowed to take. No money is exchanged and everyone is happy feeling that they have made a contribution.
“…we cannot see currency exchanges in heaven.
Nor is it a time to earn there. We are
simply living off what we have
accumulated earlier on in our journey.”
Likewise we cannot see currency exchanges in heaven. Nor is it a time to earn there. We are simply living off what we have accumulated earlier on in our journey. In life there is always a time to work hard, to till and prepare the soil and sow the seeds… Then there is the time to reap and enjoy the fruits of hard effort. That time is coming.
You might like to do a bit of self-auditing, to check and see how you are doing:
- Am I getting blessings for the actions that I perform? Such that this creates a great feeling and fulfilment and sense of purpose in life…
- Am I receiving good vibes from others which give power and energy to the soul?
- Am I creating good habits and personality traits? These are called sanskars in Hindi, as there is a large Hindi audience I will just add this point here. Remember that all these traits and tendencies all go with the soul. If for example I re-act based on my personality traits, then that is not a position of power. I understand that karma creates my drama.
- Am I investing in the soul? Are my actions such that I will have something to spend “later”? This “later” can be in this lifetime or another.
Karma gives rise to this spiritual concept of transferring our bags and baggage. Really it is all about how I act, re-act or respond to situations and people, and that will make all the difference. Let us have the aim to do a good deed in the here and now.
It’s Time… for each one of us to check just what exactly are we carrying and transferring in our suitcase of the soul.
