It takes what is useful.
The lotus flower does not let
the dirt from the mud spoil its beauty.”

Everyone has some redeeming virtue and speciality even if it is not immediately apparent.  When we make it a practice to see and collect the virtues and specialities of others, then we increase our own account of specialities, we start to credit those virtues to our account.  In a way we are choosing to bless ourselves.

It is so refreshing when the daily media, Facebook, twitter, Instagram or whatever form of social media focus on good things that are happening in life and all around the world.  For example, fridges being installed in streets in certain cities and people who don’t have food encouraged to take just as much as they need, not more or less.  Sadly, we do not get to see or hear enough good news, although there are many positive things happening through-out the world.

When someone performs an act kindness for another soul, a stranger or family member, when it is totally spontaneous and unexpected, in no time at all that witnessed ‘random act of kindness’ goes viral on the air waves of social media. This is a really happy and uplifting thing to validate goodness.  But why does this sort of news make an impact upon us so much?  Perhaps because we have stopped making these natural acts of kindness, just that… natural.  When we live within a family or community, it is this very glue of love, care and co-operation that holds us all together.  In our current climate we have to take care to social distance, but let us not create an emotional distance.

“Don’t get frustrated with others and think.
‘This one will never change!’
Be patient… don’t give up on others.”

Dadi Janki

Our original nature is one of virtues, this is why we are always drawn back to these qualities of a higher frequency vibration. It is good to make effort and pay attention to focus our mind and collect something positive, a virtue or speciality from each individual that we meet.  When we start to develop this positive habit we will come to see the world based on gratitude and appreciation, and then we are going to become a lot happier.

Actually, what this will do is create a very good practice for our mind to stop looking for problems and things to complain about.  If we start to collect only the positives from others, then our mind will be less and less drawn towards the negatives.  And we know about the law of energy… where our attention goes, then the energy will naturally flow there.

It is not that we are being naive in this and not being aware of dangers that may be present.  We are choosing to free ourselves from becoming trapped by the negative energies manifesting as words, actions and vibrations from other people, we are actually protecting our minds from the weaknesses of others.  Because whatever we see in others is simply a reflection of what is within our own selves.  So, if we choose not to see negativity, that is not to empower it even though we are aware that it is present, this is a protection for our mind, to stop us from absorbing that ‘stuff’ from others. This is not a case of being in ‘La La Land’, but of choosing NOT to absorb negativity whilst remaining pro-active and positive wherever we can and working on the things that we need to change within our own self.

“Experience the protection of good wishes
to generate that inner power that relieves all worry.”

Dadi Janki

Seeing the specialities of someone takes effort and practice, but brings us great rewards in life.  The more we cultivate an attitude and vision of seeing virtues and specialities, then the more we will naturally see those specialities and virtues and they will grow in our own life.  They will become more like a garden of flowers in our life rather than a jungle full of weeds.

Here is a list of virtues and specialities to keep a look out for in others.  Why not make it a practice for yourself to see virtues and specialities in the people you live and work with, or those that you may share brief encounters with during the day.  Just try and practice this for a week and see how much you stop taking in the negative, you will find that your mind naturally becomes drawn towards the positives in life.
