• Giving is Receiving

Charity need not only be monetary.  are so many ways in which we can give: uplifting someone with a smile, showing kindness, volunteering and sharing time, knowledge or skills with others, or just being a listening ear when it’s most needed.  These things cost us nothing, but bring an unlimited reward of satisfaction.  And, though a businessman may give thousands, it’s possible that a small, unseen, thoughtful good action done from the heart may reap an even greater return in the karmic bank account of life!

  • Feeling Sleepy?

Once awake, we need to stay awake.  Being awake means to be happy, joyful, excited and enthused about life.  If you remember the story of Samson and Delilah, it was when Delilah lured the mighty Samson into a slumber that she was able to ‘cut’ away all his powers!  Thus, we need to stay attentive and alert at all times. The bandits can come at any time to rob us of our powers. If the guard falls asleep, robbery is inevitable!

  • Waste Not, Want Not  – Celebrating Earth Day

Actually, if we respect Mother Nature, she will respect us.  The more we help in sustaining the planet, the more the planet will find ways to help us.  It will take a huge collective effort to save the world, but individually our contribution does make a difference on many levels.  If I squander resources, karma says that they won’t be there for me at a time of need.  If I look after them as a trustee, a guardian, then I am creating a relationship of harmony with the elements.

  • Veganism

Paul McCartney famously said: ‘If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian’. All animals suffer when they are being killed.Maybe it is now time to be more mindful and compassionate. To reconsider our food choices and reduce the suffering in the world. Compassion is a big part of being human. In fact, it defines our humanity. We also need to have courage to step out of the norm and demonstrate our personal convictions. Melanie also explained that if we are to live a life of integrity then integrity means doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

  • Happiness at Work

The idea is to just BE HAPPY!  Not for any reason, except to just BE HAPPY! We seem to think we need to justify our happiness!  That is not the case.  If I am happy BECAUSE of anything, that is not true happiness and I need to take note!  If I am happy because I ate a chocolate cake, or got a new handbag, or went on a vacation, then all those things are fleeting and so the happiness will also be fleeting and temporary.

  • What Vibes are You Putting Out?

The soul has the faculties of the mind and intellect.  The soul thinks using the faculty of the mind and decides using the faculty of the intellect.  As we create thoughts – good or bad – we also create the atmosphere around us: atma-sphere (atma – soul). If we create thoughts of being afraid, or of being alone or of darkness, then we also create such a vibration and an atmosphere. It’s like becoming scared of our own shadow.

  • Love and Let Go

We may be smart enough to fulfil all our worldly desires only to eventually realize that we are living in a trap of our own creation.  Learning to recognise what is real and what is false is the first step to a free, happy and fulfilling life.  Being the master of, and not a slave to our desires means we can be free to enjoy them, and free to let them go.  This is the ultimate self-love.

  • The New Space is Inner Space

Every time you come into action, do so from that inner space.  It is a bit like having been to the well and coming away with a bucket full of peace! In this way you will find newness and satisfaction in every action, and energised rather than depleted.

  • Is it Gold, or just Gold Plated?

With meditation we are able to polish that vision, very much like having to clean our glasses every time we use them.  As that insight becomes clearer to us, we are able to discriminate between what is right and wrong and good and bad, and then take the better decision.  In this way, we make the right choices for ourselves,  choices that are a fit to our values, principles and conscience.  We need to have strong discernment, otherwise we can easily be fooled by life’s attractions.

  • A Season to Every Reason

The reason why we need to remind ourselves that there is a reason to everything, is in order to maintain our joy and happiness.  If we get consumed by negative thinking, or the gloom and doom, there is no benefit and also we fall into a spiral of depression that may take a very long time to come out of.
