Blue-Sky Thinking
We could call blue-sky thinkers optimists and visionaries. These creative and enterprising people see blue skies despite the clouds. In fact where most people would only be able to see limitations, these blue-sky thinkers see possibilities.
Blue-sky thinkers do not see grey skies or black clouds, often they do not even see the dullness of the day. In their vision, in their mind’s eye, the sky is a beautiful clear blue. Therefore, people who see only blue skies are not bound by limitations, because for them beyond the sky is open space, and the road is clear.
The blue-sky visionaries are often creative, and indeed it is their creative nature that drives them to become musicians, painters, architects, engineers, inventors… and the list goes on. How often do we personally feel limited by the presence of ‘grey’ clouds in our life? When we feel stuck and in a state of inertia, then this feeling can easily turn into depression, especially when we lose any sense of purpose and hope for the future.
“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.”
Helen Keller
The optimist, more than the pessimist, would say that “Lady Luck” shines on him more. The optimist can see that all potentiality exists, he believes that there can always be some change for the better. Really this is a form of quantum thinking at its best, where the person can source creative thought and ideas, such a soul is free of self-limiting and socially limiting beliefs about what can and cannot be done. Just like the inventor, he sees beyond “what is” and looks to what is possible and asks: Why not? How can I do it better?
Blue-sky thinkers see pure potentiality, they are not restricted by the past or what has been. They are not disheartened by what seems to be impossible. Sometimes we call the blue-sky thinkers dreamers, but they always see beyond what the average person believes to be impossible. They see what could be, they are visionaries. These are inventors and scientists, people with a vision who allow their minds to look towards solutions to problems.
Of course as long as our blue-sky thinkers come from a spiritual place of love and benevolence then we will be OK. But if they are not benevolent, we as the people surely have to stand on our guard and be alert. At this moment now … we can all feel the power behind an intention and attitude. Despite the words and window dressing and bling and sparkle of the PR, we can feel the discord between the words and the true meaning and intent behind those words. That is unless we are totally asleep! Time will tell … time till reveal the truth. Maybe time is showing us all something and we are missing the point.
“Never give up on a dream because of the time it will take time to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.”
Earl Nightingale
One thing to being a blue-sky thinker is that quite often these are private people who like their own space. They can be loners, or even while being with people they can still be in their “own world”, a little in the style of Walter Mitty.
Blue-skiers use the power of their imagination, and it certainly is a wise choice in life to choose to be optimistic, because that will place them on a higher vibrational frequency. If we are saying we are subject to the law of attraction, then for sure we want to be attracting some love, peace and happiness into our life. We do not want to call worry, anxiety and despair forth to partner with us in life. So being optimistic is a far better choice to make.
“Choose to be optimistic, it feels better.”
Dalai Lama
Wishing on its own will not change a situation, but together with the desire for something better, we also have to create a little hope in ourselves and be pro-active. Being a couch potato will not get us anywhere! Simply because optimism on its own is not enough. We need to input some positive energy into the process to create some mental space, then we can engage with some forward movement at the right time. That way we can see the opportunity as it arises.
Waste, worry and doubt are the subtle saboteurs of the process of blue-sky thinkers, well for all of us. That is probably why these type of people simply wont entertain anything of fear, doubt or waste in their mental process. They will have inquiring minds, but their minds will not be closed, and of course this will make them ready to see and seize those opportunities, anytime they appear on the horizon in whichever form they present themselves.
Let’s finish with the famous words from the composer Irving Berlin. He penned the lyrics to this popular song “Blue Skies” in 1926. We always have a choice what we focus our minds upon, so let us choose that which allows us to live and grow in love and wisdom.
“Blue skies, smilin’ at me
Nothin’ but blues skies do I see.”
Irving Berlin
It’s Time… to become optimistic, to put our minds into or even beyond the blue-sky zone and to make some positive changes.

Thank you. Very good. I will also never forget the meaning now!
